Meet CameronTec at Upcoming Events
|
Launch Edition – Issue 1, April 2010 WelcomeIntroducing the very first edition of The Standard, CameronTec’s customer newsletter keeping you abreast of all the latest news about CameronFIX development and the company behind it. Since the establishment of CameronTec, our first exhibitor event was at last month’s FIX Protocol conference in London. It was reassuring to confirm up to the minute industry opinion related to low latency, dark trading, post-trade interoperability and fragmentation, and to catch up with so many of our existing customers. During the FPL conference co-chair of the FIX Protocol’s Americas Regional Committee Jim Northey summed up our recent efforts when he said ‘the reintroduction of the “Cameron” moniker is a positive development for the industry and one of its most widely installed and successful FIX product offerings’. We look forward to seeing you at the next opportunity: Face2Face Mumbai, Trade Tech London and of course, FPL Hong Kong. We welcome your feedback, suggested inclusions as we progress, so do drop us a line at standard@camerontec.com. The CameronTec Team CameronTec Launch News
Recognizing the increasing importance FIX will play in the worldwide financial industry and as global markets continue to evolve, Orc Software has established the dedicated CameronFIX subsidiary, CameronTec. With CameronFIX universally regarded as the reference standard for reliable, mature FIX engine applications, the new focused organization will provide greater responsiveness while continuing to access and benefit from resources of the broader Orc group. Challenges Facing FIX
We asked CameronTec’s Chief Technology Officer, Steve Christinson, for some candid insight into the current challenges facing the FPL, the vendors and the FIX users. “One of the biggest challenges facing FIX Protocol’s development roadmap continues to be maintaining backward compatibility while addressing feature evolution demanded by the FIX community. The widespread adoption of FIX and its usage in an ever increasing range of situations only amplifies these issues further. Many firms are finding that neither the build nor buy approach works, at an acceptable price point, and in isolation. Increasingly it is about finding FIX solutions and components which can be used standalone and mix and matched with existing infrastructure without comprising quality, performance and levels of service from the vendor. In this landscape the notion of FIX as a commodity is obsolete. FIX users today are faced with a number of significant challenges. Given the richness and complexity of the specification itself, defining FIX Rules of Engagement can be difficult and often counterparty specific. Complexity can arise around operations management; for deployment, configuration and monitoring of the FIX installation. In addition, integration with non-FIX systems plus measuring, achieving and maintaining best of breed performance e.g. when compared with native Exchange APIs, can present problems. Up until very recently there was clearly a lack of affordable automated regression testing tools and suites available, although this is now changing with a number of entry level tools recently made available from vendors such as JetTek and Lasalletech, as well as the open source community, in particular the VersaFix initiative. We hope to see the range and richness of these new offerings continue to expand in future.” In the next edition of The Standard we will address some of these challenges in more detail. In the interim, if you would like to forward any comments to CTO Steve Christinson, please email standard@camerontec.com. Within the global financial industry CameronFIX is recognised as the most widely-installed, high performance FIX offering. The only long-established FIX engine that delivers continuous, compelling version upgrades, we are pleased to announce the imminent release of CameronFIX 7, the outcome of a 3 year development roadmap for improved scalability, enhanced user experience and generational renewal. Introducing New CameronFIX SolutionsUnderstanding that customer demands vary firm to firm or change over time, CameronTec has released two additional solutions addressing both ends of the FIX market. For larger companies/institutions and exchanges requiring a complete end-to-end, integrated solution, the CameronFIX Developer Edition delivers additional components on top of the underlying CameronFIX infrastructure for unparalleled flexibility and performance. For those companies with smaller operational demands or are perhaps less invested in infrastructure and technical capacity, the CameronFIX Access solution is ideal and the optimum first step into the world of FIX. It’s the preferred approach for many small to medium firms looking for a pluggable, lightweight solution to turn on and go. Introducing New Partners
During the course of its commercial life CameronFIX has attracted quality technology partners to help deliver additional sales and services regionally, many of these proving long and successful relationships. We are pleased to announce new partners for CameronFIX global professional services in US-based firms Lasalletech and JetTek. Both these technology providers offer specialized FIX testing and optimization tools / services around CameronFIX deployment.
