WelcomeOur first edition for 2011 presents readers with some candid insight into current debate, challenges and opportunities surrounding the FIX Protocol and facing members of the broader financial industry. Exchanges worldwide are increasingly relying on FIX over alternate proprietary technologies and we look at the driving forces behind this. Many market participants are also at the crossroads when it comes to FIX data convergence. They need to decide what their next infrastructure investment will look like. As well, in this issue we have a number of other news items to keep you informed about CameronTec product, new customers and where you can meet us at upcoming industry events in your region. Stop by our booth at the FIX Protocol’s EMEA Conference in London at Old Billingsgate. We’ll be exhibiting all day on 1 March and our CTO Steve Christinson will be participating in the panel discussion titled Efficient Trading Interfaces for Exchanges. As always, we welcome your comments, so please do drop us a line at standard@camerontec.com. The CameronTec Team European Exchanges continue to adopt the FIX Protocol as marketplaces worldwide lose their cozy monopolies
The Vienna and Ljubljana Stock Exchanges are the latest marketplaces to adopt CameronFIX technology for trading access, order routing and market data. Their decision follows the emerging global trend where exchanges are increasingly relying on the open FIX protocol standard over alternate proprietary technologies. At the Crossroads of FIX Data Convergence
The way firms use FIX is evolving, and isolated FIX engines are now sub-optimal. CameronTec’s Chief Product Officer Max Colas articulates the rationale behind the emergence of Catalys, the new FIX infrastructure that addresses these new markets. Thoughts from the Cockpit
FIX engines and planes share a few things in common, most notably that poor monitoring of either invariably leads to painful consequences. CameronTec’s Chief Product Officer Max Colas explores what makes a FIX engine fly and stay the course for the long haul. Q & A with CameronTec’s Head of Sales Engineering, Derek Boyle
Sales engineering can be a challenging role for techies as it also requires a good measure of business orientation, and this combination in an individual is rare. Chicago-based Derek Boyle, who heads up CameronTec’s global sales engineering team, shares some insight on the drivers for high-end customer support. Product NewsLatest CameronTec Development, Catalys
Catalys is the industry reference for FIX ecosystems, developed specifically to address the cross-functional needs of financial firms that rely on the FIX protocol. For many firms the complexity around managing decentralized FIX infrastructure in a global environment cannot be adequately addressed by FIX engines in isolation. Catalys is a FIX infrastructure that combines scattered FIX nodes – wherever FIX is used – with a central backbone that provides transversal services for configuration, testing, monitoring and management.
